HEY! I’M LIANA. I’VE been leading wilderness CANOE trips IN MAINE for over a decade. I’M A Registered Maine Guide, A WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER, and was camp counselor for MANY years. WHETHER YOU’RE A SEASONED CAMPER, OR HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A CANOE BEFORE, I CAN’T WAIT TO PADDLE TOGETHER! MY FAVORITE WAY ON EARTH TO SPEND A DAY, is paddling downriver.

Everything I (LIANA) know about canoe tripping, I learned from Master Maine Guide John Wight. And John learned it all from his dad, who was also a Master Maine Guide. John is more at home in the woods than out of them. You’re always safe with HIM, and you’re bound to hear a few great stories, too. He’s a legend! Even if john isn’t on a trip with liana, he’s always there in spirit.

Do I need to have canoed or camped before?

Nope! No experience required. We’ll teach you all the skills you need to get downriver and by the end of the trip, you’ll feel like a pro!

What will we eat?

We eat well on the river. Canoeing is different from other types of backcountry camping because there’s plenty of room to bring lots of fresh, delicious ingredients. all our meals are be sauteed, steamed, and baked over a campfire — yes, you can bake on a campfire! we’re happy to tailor our trip menu to your preferences, and, of course, any dietary restrictions. here’s an example of what we might eat in one day on the river:

breakfast — breakfast burritos, fresh honeydew, coffee/tea/cocoa

lunch — chicken caesar wraps

snacks — cheese/crackers/salami, apples. and gorp, of course!

dinner — spaghetti & meatballs, garlic bread, arugula salad. and chocolate cake for dessert!

What kind of wildlife will we see?

There’s no guarantee of seeing them, but we’ll be sharing the woods with many moose, otter, beaver, and bald eagles. you never know what’s waiting just downstream!

WHAT ABOUT BUGS?

We recommend INVESTING IN a HEAD net or bug shirt, especially in the spring. It’s also helpful to wear light colored clothing – the bugs will be less attracted to you. AND BRING BUG SPRAY IF YOU’RE LIKELY TO WANT IT!

What are the campsites like?

Campsites on the waterway are rustic but comfortable, with picnic tables, fire pits, and outhouses.
